Wow it has been a while!

Life sure has gotten in the way of my blogging and reading!! I peek in when I can but I've not really had time to do much of anything! My poor baby, who happens to be 6'0, wears a size 13 shoe and is only 15 and yes he is still my baby, has been so sick these last 6 weeks or so! It seems that if it is out there and it can be caught, he catches it. He has passed more sickies on to us then should be legally allowed!

Well this last time was the big one, my son tested positive for swine flu! I got called by the nurse at his high school telling me that he had a 101 fever and that I needed to come and get him. Once we got home the fever went up and hovered between 103 and 104 all night long. We did everything.....piggy backing tylenol and motrin and getting him into a lukewarm tub but the fever wouldn't budge. By morning he was coughing up both lungs! I got him into our doctor and they did the swab test and put him on Tamiflu and a z-pak. He got well really quickly but had to be quarantined in his room for 3 days. It took the lab 7 business days to get the results back and when our doctor called me to tell me it was positive I was shocked! The meds worked well but the cough is hanging on so we are going back to the doctor tomorrow!

I hate when my kids are sick, scares the crap out of me and especially when they get fevers like he had! Hopefully we are getting through this and getting past it because I don't think I can handle him being sick anymore!! Only good news is that now he is immune to this particular strain and shouldn't get H1N1 again!

I've had to spend the last few days doing all the stuff I've neglected for nearly a month! I'm trying to find a better way to store my books and I would love to get back to reading too!! :)

So I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy and I should be back to blogging now!!

Well that's damn scary. My oldest is at school in Orange County and he's been sick for weeks. He gets irritated when I tell him to go to the doctor's. I think I'll use your son as a case in point, if you don't mind. I think it's the male animal. They generally make poor patients and always think the sickness is just going to "go away".

I'm so sorry to hear about your son, hope he gets well very soon. We have this swine flue in my part of the world, and my sister and her daughter are very ill for the past 6 days, and lab works aren't finished yet, so I know what you mean about those tests.

I wish your son a speedy recovery - from the sounds of it, no one else in the household has come down with it...

and no matter how old or how tall they are - they are still our baby....

Mine is just 12 yes twelve and already 6'0 tall and I can't get him out of my bed... a very mommy boy...

Hope to see you back blogging soon - make sure you get some rest...

Sending well wishes....

I was just telling my giant 16-year old as he smothered me with a hug that he's still my baby.

Blache I'm terribly sorry, you must be emotionally & physically exhausted; helping your son get better. I'm worried about this new flu, my two kiddies are in elementary so...I know--how us mothers "panic" over our children.
I'm glad the antibiotics kicked in!

What a scare! So glad he's is okay and you are all okay too. My son hasn't been sick since he was little. Now 20, 6" 5" 200 lbs he was sick this weekend & it was surreal seeing this big person laid low.

I'm so glad I'm 1) not in school and 2) don't work with the public every day. Too many opportunities to spread germs around.

Hope you're son gets better real quick!

Hope he's better soon. Sounds like the flu is mostly gone, but the cough is hanging on, which is a total drag. I hope that you figure out what's been making him so ill the last couple months! It's so awful to see your kids (even the big ones) when they feel so bad.

Glad to have you check in and know that you're doing ok. BTW, got the book - thanks!
