Today is a very special day!

Twenty two years ago today (actually 8:42pm) I became a Mommy for the very first time! My precious little angel was actually due June 28th but of course she kept us waiting! We had spent 4th of July, 1987 at a family reunion, remember I am overdue at this point, the party was outside in the oppressive heat of a So Cal summer and every single person in my husband's family (and there were 150 people at this reunion) touched or rubbed my tummy! They stuck me in the comfy chair, the soft one that made it impossible for me to get out of without help and of course I got no help! It was a long day and bets were placed as to when she would be born, what she would be and how much she would weigh. Cousin Julie won on all counts, kind of scary actually, she missed the birth time by just a bit but got all the other details right!

So Sunday morning I felt a little weird, thought it was from the day before. I thought maybe my water had broke so we called and they told us to come on in. They checked me in and checked me out and said my water hadn't broken and they were getting ready to send me home and my water broke! LOL I didn't go into labor so they induced and I was told by my doctor that I wouldn't be allowed any drugs because they had to induce and since I'd never had a baby before I had no clue what I was in for! I learned quickly though!!! Eight hours and forty-two minutes later she was here and although that is fairly short for a first time labor it was the longest nearly 9 hours of my life and I seriously thought I was dying! Within minutes our families were all in the room with us and we were celebrating our new baby girl!

Sorry about the quality of the pic, I had to take a pic of a pic because we didn't have digital cameras way back then, although this is one of my favorite pics of her and she is 2 in this one.

It is really hard to believe that not only is she mine but that she is 22 because I certainly am no where near old enough to have a child her age!! Where did the last 22 years go to, she grew up in the blink of an eye and I didn't tell her she could do that!!

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY KT.......I love you!!!

Happy Birthday Katie!!

Where does the time go? I don't remember telling my kids they could grow up either! I've threatened them, but they continue to ignore me!

She's beautiful Blanche, just like her mom. Thanks for sharing 22 years worth of memories in one sweet picture.

Happy birthday to your daughter, Blanche!

I agree, time flies right on by with no thought or cares. It's just here and gone in the blink of an eye. I was experiencing that feeling yesterday with my husband.

I hope you all have a great day today!

Happy birthday to your daughter Blanche! It's amazing how fast time goes by for parents yet for kids it seems so slow.

Thank You everyone for the kind words and birthday wishes!!

We had a wonderful day, out for breakfast and to the beach! She is out with friends now, sharing her isn't always so easy but she is a big girl now and I know she needs to do her own thing too! :)
